Video ​& Animation

1 year, 1 credit

Students will learn to produce their own silent movies, student chase scenes, movie scenere-creations, music videos, and much more. Students will use Adobe Premiere Elements or iMovie, video equipment, green screens, and props. After exploringthe history of video, students will learn to produce videos by following thethree phases of production. A variety of movie genres, such as horror, comedy, drama, and other themes, will be explored and produced. Students will alsolearn about lighting, sound effects, music, and dialogue tracks. This is an integrated program that prepares students for computer technology in animation, multimedia and game design career paths. A computer animator is an artist who designs for video and film, and uses a computer as a primary tool. Animators must have creative abilities in design, problem-solving, production,communication, and presentation skills. Computer animators are employed in advertising, video production, the motion picture industry (special effects to full cartoon features), and in the growing multimedia industry, creating games, training materials, and presentations. At the end of course completion,students will have their own original video libraries.

 (recommended for 9th grade students)

Utilizing a digital platform this course is a survey involving the fundamental principles that are common to all future art curriculums. These include basic principles of space, form, balance, and line. Students will explore the fundamentals of Fine Art using animation, interactive media, programming, 3D graphics, and video editing. Special attention is paid to the fusion of art history and modern technology. The software programs studied are the foundations for other advanced high school computer courses.

 

Advertising & Marketing
Advertising & Marketing

This class will teach the students the fundamentals of marketing through the world of sports and entertainment. Students will be involved in an interactive class that will develop skills in the area of facility design, merchandising, advertising, public relations/publicity, event marketing, sponsoring, sales promotions, and career opportunities as they relate to the sports and entertainment industry. Students will use a wide array of computer programs to make commercials, sportscasts, stadium floor plans, marketing presentations, advertisements, logos, and new product images. Students will also complete a unit in Virtual Business- Sports, where they will create and control their own football franchise.
